Understand your usage
The same account balances and limits apply through the website, API, CLI, and connected assistants.
Balance and headroom
Account credits can include an unexpired signup grant, included credits, and promotional credits. Available headroom accounts for credits, verified metered allowance, usage already incurred, and outstanding holds. Account entitlements determine which operations are available.
Usage already incurred remains owed even when new credits appear. If subscription or billing-period information cannot be verified, it is reported as unavailable rather than zero.
Admission estimates and actual usage
Before a build or run starts, admission reserves projected usage as a hold. Concurrent work shares the same allowance. A projected hold is an estimate, not necessarily the final charge.
Completed work records actual usage and settles or releases its hold. Itemized usage distinguishes credits used, metered amounts, waived amounts, and delivery status. Flat subscription fees are separate from these operation records.
When a request cannot start
An insufficient-credits or insufficient-funds response means the request cannot be admitted under the account’s current allowance. That operation did not start. Do not repeatedly retry the same refusal.
A permission or entitlement response means that feature is unavailable to the connected account. A temporary billing-provider error means allowance could not be verified. Respect its retry guidance and reconcile any uncertain write before repeating it.
