This guide is for a financial professional who has reviewed a model and wants to carry its allocation into a brokerage workflow. An allocation is how investments are divided. You receive a file of model weights; ENSEMBLE does not connect those weights to a client's actual holdings or send orders.
You need an ENSEMBLE account, a successfully built model and Business access for broker formats. Start with model research or check current pricing. Start with $100 in credit, valid for 7 days, with no card required. Builds and runs are metered.
1. Inspect the model and run
Use your own reviewed model. For a public reference, open Classic Balanced 60/40.
On October 5, 2026, the public API reported live run run_01m40fx8y7ex9b5n84v15b1y7r, with data through October 2. Its target decision dated October 1 was 60% SPY and 40% TLT. This is a dated allocation example, not a performance claim or a statement about today's live result. You can inspect the public model record and that run's allocation record.
Before exporting, inspect the successful run, data date, warnings, inputs and assumptions. An enabled schedule alone does not establish freshness. If a model depends on other models, inspect their readiness and the resolved asset weights too.
2. Select the intended allocation
In the model's allocation panel, choose Target for its latest rebalance decision. Current describes the modeled book at the latest data date, including drift; it does not read an actual brokerage account. Check the displayed date and any pending decision before continuing.
For composed models, the Models and Assets views distinguish the model structure from its underlying holdings. Broker files use asset weights. Resolve missing members before exporting.
3. Choose the file format
Open Export. Generic CSV, Copy CSV and JSON are available separately from Business broker formats. Business adds Altruist and IBKR.
| Format | What the current exporter produces | What you must review |
|---|---|---|
| Altruist | Custom-model CSV with percentage weights, template columns and $ for cash | The custodian's current template, valid holdings, weights and account constraints |
| IBKR | TWS Rebalance Portfolio rows using STK and SMART, with target percentages; cash is implicit | Symbol resolution, supported security types, existing positions and proposed orders |
For the dated SPY/TLT example, the IBKR serializer produces these illustrative rows:
DES,SPY,STK,SMART,,,,,,60.00
DES,TLT,STK,SMART,,,,,,40.00
The current broker serializers export positive weights. They are not a general representation of short positions, derivatives or instructions to liquidate assets absent from the file. The IBKR format identifies securities as stocks/ETFs; it does not promise support for every asset type in the catalog. Review leveraged or unusual allocations before relying on a broker format.
4. Review before using the file
Compare the file with the selected allocation and retain the model, run identity, data date and export date in your research record. Verify totals, symbols, cash treatment and the receiving platform's current import requirements. Export compatibility is separate from tradability in a particular account.
Importing a file or reviewing proposed orders happens in your brokerage workflow. ENSEMBLE does not validate account restrictions, approve trading decisions or execute transactions.
Business also offers branded fact sheets and fee modeling. Review those outputs independently: they do not certify compliance or imply that unmodeled costs and taxes were included. ENSEMBLE is research software; all backtests are hypothetical.
Frequently asked questions
- Will ENSEMBLE place the trades?
- No. The export is a file of model weights. You review its contents and decide whether to import or execute anything in your brokerage workflow.
- Why are broker formats missing from my Export menu?
- Broker-format files require the Business capability. Generic CSV and JSON are separate options. Check your current account plan and the pricing page.
